What does Provoking Protopias mean to you and how is that displayed through your collection?
Provoking Protopias to me means a different view of life. It’s a way of benefiting our world with innovative creativity and bettering our environment and the community- starting with fashion and design elements.
What was your inspiration to start working in fashion/textile design?
My inspiration to work in this field stemmed from my love for thrifting and upcycling. I’ve also been a licensed esthetician since twenty seventeen and currently am working full time as a makeup artist. I wanted to find a way to bring both worlds I love into one, so my dream is to work in RUNWAY.
What has been your creative process?
My design process has been influenced by my experiences and overcoming in hard times of life. I’m focusing on always pushing the boundaries for myself to obtain the next level. I start with ideation – finicking through my inspiration and admirations. Then I visualize by sketching garments and accessories. I pin fabric swatches, color pallets, and notes that are running in my head. I finalize my ideas and communicate with others to project the best creation of my ability.
What do you hope to have people take away after seeing Provoking Protopias?
I hope the takeaway I can give is to be ethereal and I want to show how important it is to believe in yourself and love and admire every struggle and success of your own personal journey.
